The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has announced proposals to increase processing fees for various types of UK visa applications including settlement fiance(e), partner and marriage visas.
Beginning 1 October 2010, fees for the settlement fiancee / fiance, proposed civil partner, de facto (unmarried) partner, spousal and civil partnership visas may increase from current £ 644 to £750 or the equivalent in foreign currencies applicable in the country of application.
While these fee increases are yet to be officially confirmed by the UKBA, which is due by the end of September, they are widely considered to be the most likely outcome for the above-referenced visa categories.
If approved, the new fees will be in effect for settlement visa applications beginning 1 October 2010. Fees were last changed in April 2010 when the basic cost of a settlement visa increased from previous £585 to current £644.
