Important Rules have come into effect in the last week of November, some of which are likely to have significant impact on certain groups ofsettlement visa applicants regarding UK immigration.
One of the biggest changes announced by the UK Home Office concerns the recent age increase for marriage, fiancee and partner visa applications. In addition to the previously stated application age rise from 18 to 21, there are additional requirements for situation clarification for those applicants who are already in the UK or due to arrive in the UK with a settlement visa.
Underage foreigners who are already in the UK on a fiancee visa that was issued by a British Consulate, Embassy or High Commission overseas before 27th November 2008 will not be subject to the new age restrictions if they are applying for further leave to remain (FLR(M) in the UK.
If the entry clearance application has already been granted by 27th November 2008 on the grounds of spouse, civil partner, proposed civil partner, unmarried or same sex partner, the underage applicant will still be entitled to apply for admission into the UK.
